Milwaukee River dam in Grafton to be removed
Don Behm from the Journal Sentinel wrote an article about the Lime Kiln dam in Grafton being removed with federal economic recovery act funds through NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). The $4.7 million project will create 174 temporary jobs and will reconnect 14,000 acres of wetlands. The removal of the dam will allow fish to swim 35 miles upstream in the main river, 11 more miles in the North Branch and 112 miles of tributary streams.
