Kinnickinnic River Redevelopment
The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) will be holding an open house to present the final design of the Kinnickinnic (KK) River Flood Management Project: S. 6th St to Interstate 94 (I-94) Bridge.

Additional improvements include: Removing 500 feet of concrete lined channel to increase public safety; Developing 1,000 feet of stone lined main channel to enhance aquatic habitat and fish passage; Restoring upland and wetland plant communities with native vegetation; and Providing accommodations for the future extension of the KK River Bike Trail to pass under the newly constructed S. 6th St Bridge.
This project is scheduled to start in September 2010 and will take approximately one year to complete.

Milwaukee River Redevelopment
The Village of Shorewood and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation selected GRAEF in the fall of 2007 to design the full reconstruction of 1.2 miles of E. Capitol Drive in the Village of Shorewood from Estabrook Parkway to Lake Drive.
All pavement, curb and gutter, and sidewalk will be replaced as part of the project. Planned streetscaping enhancements consist of decorative crosswalks, additional street trees, curb side planters, and various amenities which include new benches, plant pots, and bike racks. Street lighting will be replaced with decorative poles that match the Oakland Avenue facilities.
The project area includes six (6) signalized intersection with a seventh (7th) planned for the intersection of N. Murray Avenue & E. Capitol Drive. In addition to the roadway reconstruction work, the proposed plan of improvement includes a new pedestrian bridge along the Oak Leaf Trail that will also serve as a gateway entrance to the community.
Innovative bio-filtration devices will be built as a means to clean stormwater run-off ultimately destined for the Milwaukee River. A drive-through video of the proposed corridor is available for viewing on a website at the following location: http://www.capitoldrive.info/
