FAA Rejects West Bend Airport Expansion

Milwaukee Riverkeeper applauds the FAA’s decision to reject the West Bend Airport Expansion and discontinue spending taxpayer money on the Environmental Impact Statement for the Project.

Milwaukee Riverkeeper along with our partners at Watershed Watchers (formerly Taxpayers Against Airport Growth) and Wisconsin Wetlands Association have long stated that there was not a legitimate purpose and need for the proposed runway expansion, which would have rerouted a significant portion of Highway 33 and destroyed over 150 acres of wetland and floodplain forest along the Milwaukee River.
