Milwaukee Urban Water Trail named Recommended Water Trail

September 15, 2006
Friends of Milwaukee’s Rivers’ Milwaukee Urban Water Trail was designated this month as one of twelve “Recommended Water Trails for 2006” by the American Canoe Association. The water trail includes a map that shows canoe and kayak access points, portage locations and places of interest. Signage along the trail lets boaters know where they can put in and take out their crafts.

The American Canoe Association (ACA) is a 125 year old organization that works to “make the world a better place to paddle.” The Association’s interest in water trails can be traced to its founders, who cited “the exploration, creation and preservation of water trails for recreational use by Americans of all ages” as a key reason for the creation of the ACA.

We are pleased to be included in the ACA’s list of recommended trails!
